The Island Community Haven has been formed as a community interest company (CIC) a group of passionate local people in Derbyshire because of the need for an animal sanctuary and community spirit.
The Island Community Haven CIC
Occupies a 3-acre smallholding located in Draycott and is surrounded by neighbouring villages Borrowash and Risley. The farm is used by the community for a range of services that develop mental, social and physical wellbeing while building community cohesion and learning new skills all within a safe and therapeutic environment.
The Ethos of The Haven is to build a space that can be accessed by all regardless of age, race, gender or ability. The Haven is for anyone who would like to build resilience and learn new skills while caring for others in a therapeutic farm space.
